Adam Reed

I started work in 1995 at Charles Worthington. To subsidise living in London, I worked for a renowned corsetière, beading corsetry for Christian Lacroix, Thierry Mugler, Antonio Berardi and the then unknown Alexander McQueen. While working here, I met the eponymous Isabella Blow, who was incredibly important in encouraging me to keep following my hairdressing dream.

Over 15 years on, and I have since launched four salons, styled stars and collaborated backstage at global fashion events with designers such as Matthew Williamson, House of Holland and Erdem. I am a global ambassador for L'Oréal Professionel, GHD and The Green Salon Collective. I create work for continual editorials in Vogue, Elle and Sunday Times Style. I also consult for two well known fine-fragrance houses. In 2021 I was a British Hairdresser of the Year Award nominee for the third time.

The name ARKIVE is meaningful to me, and embodies our key beliefs and values. Each letter in ARK stands for a member of my family, while the concept of the ark reflects the open and supportive community I draw my strength from. By putting ARK at the core of the ARKIVE brand name, it signifies that family and community are at the core of the ARKIVE brand too.

ARKIVE is also a reflection of the role our head plays in how we feel about ourselves. Our head acts as the archive of the body: the place where all our memories and stories are held. ARKIVE pulls from the experiences I've had throughout my life and career, in building this brand I have pulled from the ARKIVE of my life. As ARKIVE's Head Arkitect, I tell stories and share aspects of my life with our growing community.
